1. Introduction

MandarinKids is developed by LESRA Future Apps. This privacy policy explains how we handle information when you or your child use our application. MandarinKids is a child-directed learning app that teaches Simplified Chinese (Mandarin) through pinyin, characters, tones, and mini-games.

MandarinKids is directed to children. We have built the app to comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Google Play Families Policy. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental consent.

2. Information We Collect

Advertising Data

We use Google AdMob to display advertisements. Because the app is child-directed, AdMob is configured with child-directed treatment: ads are limited to family-safe content and are not personalized based on interests or behavior. AdMob may receive limited device and ad-request information necessary to display ads, but does not use persistent identifiers to build profiles about children.

Child-Directed Advertising

We set the following AdMob flags before the ads SDK initializes:

No ad mediation networks (such as IronSource or Liftoff/Vungle) are used in this app.

Analytics Data

We use Firebase Analytics to understand aggregate, anonymous app usage — such as which lessons and mini-games are used and how often. We do not log personal identifiers or behavioral profiles tied to individual children.

Crash Reports

We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports so we can fix bugs. Crash reports may include device state, app version, and stack traces. No personal information is included in crash reports.

Purchase Information

We use Google Play Billing for an optional subscription that removes advertisements. Purchase history is managed entirely by Google Play. We do not process or store payment information.

Fonts & Audio

To display Chinese characters correctly, the app may fetch the Noto Sans SC font from Google's font service. Pronunciation audio is generated on-device using the system text-to-speech engine. Neither transmits personal information.

3. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

Provide and improve app functionality
Display family-safe, non-personalized advertisements
Analyze app performance and fix crashes
Process subscriptions through Google Play

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your or your child's personal information. Because this app is directed at children, we comply with COPPA and the Google Play Families Policy and do not share children's data with third parties for marketing purposes.

We share data only with:

Google AdMob — for serving family-safe ads
Firebase (Analytics & Crashlytics) — for usage and crash reporting
Google Play Billing — for subscription handling (managed by Google Play)

5. Data Retention

We retain data only as long as necessary for app functionality and improvement. Learning progress, streaks, stars, and reward settings are stored locally on the device and are not transmitted to our servers. You may request deletion of any associated data by contacting us.

6. Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect information. Local app data is stored on the device using standard Android storage. Third-party services (Google, Firebase) operate under their own security frameworks.

7. Children's Privacy

This app is designed for children and complies with COPPA and the Google Play Families Policy.

MandarinKids is directed to children. We do not collect personal information from children without parental consent. AdMob child-directed treatment is enabled, no mediation networks are used, and ad content is rated "G" (General). There are no account creation, social, or chat features that could expose children to strangers.
