1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Abakada – Filipino Literacy for Kids (the “App”), you (“User”) agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”).

If you are downloading or using this App on behalf of a child, you represent that you are the child’s parent or legal guardian and that you accept these Terms on behalf of both yourself and the child. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not download, install, or use the App.

These Terms are a legally binding agreement between you and LESRA Future Apps (“Developer”, “we”, “us”, “our”).

2. App Description and Purpose

Abakada – Filipino Literacy for Kids is a free educational mobile application designed to help young children learn the Filipino alphabet (Abakada), letter sounds, syllables, common Filipino words, greetings, cultural terms, and vocabulary through interactive lessons, 8 mini-games, a picture dictionary with animal sounds, word families practice, a finger-trace letter game, and an unlockable rewards system.

The App is intended exclusively for educational and personal, non-commercial use by children under the supervision of a parent or guardian.

3. Eligibility and Parental Supervision

                Target Age Group: This App is designed for children ages 6–12.
                On first launch, the App displays a one-tap parental confirmation screen. A parent or guardian
                must tap “I Agree” to confirm they are allowing a child to use the App before the
                child proceeds to onboarding.
            

This App is designed for use by children, particularly those aged 6–12. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their child’s use of the App.
By allowing a child to use the App, the parent or guardian acknowledges and accepts these Terms and our Privacy Policy on the child’s behalf.
We recommend that parents engage with their children while using the App to maximize the educational benefit and monitor screen time.
You are solely responsible for ensuring the App is appropriate for the age and maturity level of the child using it.

4. No Account Required

The App does not require any user account, registration, login, or sign-in of any kind. No personal information needs to be — or should be — submitted to use the App. All settings, progress, streak data, stars earned, and reward items are stored locally on the device via Android SharedPreferences.

5. License to Use the App

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, LESRA Future Apps grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

Download and install the App on a device you own or control
Use the App solely for personal, non-commercial, educational purposes

This license does not include the right to:

Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or sublicense any part of the App
Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App
Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices within the App
Use the App to develop a competing product or service
Reproduce, distribute, or publicly display App content including lesson illustrations, generated images, or audio content

6. Intellectual Property

All content within the App — including but not limited to text, graphics, audio files, sounds, illustrations, anime-style artwork, generated images, animations, lesson content, game mechanics, reward system designs, picture dictionary content, and the App’s source code — is the exclusive intellectual property of LESRA Future Apps and/or its licensors, and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable laws.

“Abakada” as used in the App’s educational content refers to the traditional Filipino alphabet system, which is part of the public cultural heritage of the Philippines. The App’s presentation, design, original content, illustrations, and game designs remain the property of LESRA Future Apps.

7. Acceptable Use

Use the App only for its intended educational purpose: helping children learn the Filipino alphabet, vocabulary, pronunciation, and cultural literacy in a safe, fun, and constructive environment.

You agree to use the App lawfully, responsibly, and in accordance with these Terms.

8. Prohibited Use

You agree NOT to:

Use the App for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the App or its underlying infrastructure
Use automated tools or scripts to interact with the App in a manner inconsistent with normal use
Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or extract source code from the App
Modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works based on the App without prior written consent
Use the App in any way that violates Google Play’s Developer Policy or any applicable third-party terms of service
Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features of the App
Attempt to manipulate or artificially inflate star counts, reward unlocks, streak counters, or any other gamification elements
Use the App to distribute malware, spam, or other harmful content

9. Advertising

The free version of the App may display advertisements served by Google AdMob. Advertisements appear as a banner at the bottom of the screen and as interstitial ads shown no more than once every five minutes during active use. No advertisements are displayed inside game screens or lesson content screens.

Because this App targets children, all advertising is configured with child-directed settings, under-age-of-consent treatment, and G-rated maximum content rating. Non-personalized ads only. Behavioral or interest-based ad targeting is not applied within this App. Interstitial ads are always closeable within 5 seconds and are never shown on app launch.

Advertisements are provided by Google AdMob and are subject to Google’s advertising policies. We bear no responsibility for the content of third-party advertisements. If you encounter an advertisement that you believe is inappropriate for a children’s app, please report it to us at jdronquillo46@gmail.com.

10. In-App Subscriptions

The App offers an optional, paid subscription to remove all advertisements (the “Ad-Free Subscription”). Subscribing does not lock or restrict any educational content — all lessons, mini-games, picture dictionary, word families, and rewards are fully accessible on the free tier. The subscription removes ads only. All billing for subscriptions is handled exclusively by the Google Play Store.

Subscription fees, billing cycles, and payment methods are governed by the Google Play Store and the terms displayed at the time of purchase
We do not receive, store, or process any payment card information or personal financial data
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period
To cancel a subscription, use the Google Play Store → Subscriptions menu on your device
No refunds are processed by us; all refund requests must be directed to Google Play in accordance with Google’s refund policies
Subscribing does not alter these Terms of Service in any other way; all other provisions continue to apply

11. Rewards System

The App includes an unlockable rewards system where children earn stars by completing lessons and correctly answering mini-game questions. Stars can be used to unlock background themes and sticker badges within the App.

All stars, unlocked rewards, and equipped items are stored locally on the device only — they are not backed up to any cloud service by us
Stars and rewards are non-transferable, have no monetary value, and cannot be exchanged for real-world goods or services
We reserve the right to modify, adjust, or remove reward items in future app updates
Uninstalling the App will permanently delete all locally stored progress, stars, and unlocked rewards

12. Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third-party services, each governed by their own separate terms of service and privacy policies:

Google AdMob — for advertising services
Google Play Billing — for optional in-app subscription processing
Android / Google Text-to-Speech — for on-device letter, word, and animal sound pronunciation
Firebase Crashlytics — for anonymous crash reporting to improve App stability
Firebase Analytics — for anonymous usage analytics to improve the learning experience
Firebase Remote Config — for remote App configuration updates

We are not responsible for the practices, content, or availability of third-party services. Your use of such services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

13. Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

In summary: we collect no personal data from users of this App. All personal data (progress, streaks, rewards, preferences) remains on your device. Anonymous crash and analytics data may be collected by Firebase as described in the Privacy Policy.

14. Offline Use and App Functionality

Core educational content — including all 30 lessons, 8 mini-games, picture dictionary, word families, trace-the-letter game, and rewards system — is bundled within the App and is available without an internet connection. An internet connection is only required for ad serving (AdMob) and Firebase services (Crashlytics, Analytics, Remote Config).

We make no guarantee of uninterrupted or error-free operation of the App. The App may require updates from time to time to maintain compatibility with newer Android versions or to improve functionality and content.

15. Service Availability and Changes

We may modify, update, suspend, or discontinue any part of the App, including features, content, games, rewards, or subscription plans, at any time with or without notice
We may release updates through the Google Play Store; we recommend keeping the App updated for access to the latest features, content, and security improvements
We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the App or its features
Continued use of the App after updates to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms

16. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or educational outcome, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

We do not warrant that:

The App will meet all educational needs or learning goals of every child
The App will be available at all times, error-free, or free from bugs
Any errors or defects will be corrected within any specific timeframe
Text-to-Speech pronunciation will be identical to native Filipino speaker pronunciation on all devices
Stars, streak data, or reward unlocks will be preserved following device changes, factory resets, or App reinstallation

17. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, LESRA Future Apps, its officers, employees, agents, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or related to:

Your use of, or inability to use, the App
Any content within the App or third-party services integrated into the App
Any errors, interruptions, or defects in the App
Loss of locally stored progress, stars, streak data, or unlocked rewards
Any subscription transactions processed by Google Play

In no event shall our total liability to you exceed the amount you paid, if any, for access to the App or its subscription in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. If you have not paid anything, our total liability is zero.

18. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless LESRA Future Apps and its officers, employees, agents, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

Your violation of these Terms
Your use of the App in a manner inconsistent with its intended purpose
Any misuse of the App by a child under your supervision

19. Termination

These Terms remain in effect while you use the App. We reserve the right to terminate or restrict access to the App for any user who violates these Terms, misuses the App, or whose use creates legal, reputational, or security risks for LESRA Future Apps or other users.

You may terminate these Terms at any time by uninstalling the App from your device. Upon uninstallation, all locally stored App data (progress, streaks, stars, rewards) is permanently deleted. The license granted under Section 5 ceases immediately.

20. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the App shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to the appropriate courts of the Philippines having jurisdiction over the matter.

21. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect without limitation.

22. Entire Agreement

These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and LESRA Future Apps with respect to your use of the App and supersede all prior agreements, representations, or understandings, whether written or oral.

24. Acknowledgment

BY DOWNLOADING, INSTALLING, OR USING ABAKADA – FILIPINO LITERACY FOR KIDS, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTOOD, AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS OF SERVICE AND OUR PRIVACY POLICY.

If you are a parent or guardian, you additionally confirm that you accept these Terms on behalf of the child using the App and that you will supervise the child’s use of the App appropriately.
